Description
Fairy Meadows is a large grassy plain in the Diamer District. It sits at the base of Nanga Parbat, one of the world's tallest mountains. The area is known for its green fields and clear views of the mountain. Visitors usually reach this place by a jeep ride and then a walk. It is a popular spot for camping and looking at nature.

Best Season to Visit
Spring: March to May. Weather is cool and pleasant. The grass turns green, and wild flowers begin to grow. It's a good time for trekking before theSummer: heat.
Summer: June to August. Warm and sunny days are common. This is the peak season, very popular for hiking and camping. Nights can still be cool.
Monsoon/Rainy: /Rainy: Late July to September. Can get heavy rain, making treks difficult and roads slippery. Views might be covered by clouds. Less ideal for visiting.
Autumn: September to November. Cool days and cold nights. The trees change color to yellow and orange. Clear skies offer great views of Nanga Parbat. Less crowded than summer.
Winter: December to February. Very cold with heavy snow. The area becomes inaccessible due to blocked roads and deep snow. It is not possible to visit during this time.
How to Reach
- By Air: The nearest active airport is Gilgit Airport (GIT). It is about 80-90 km from Raikot Bridge, which is the starting point for Fairy Meadows. This takes about 2 to 3 hours by road to reach Raikot.
- By Road: Travel on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) towards Raikot Bridge. From there, you take a local jeep for about 2 hours to Tatu Village. Then, it's a 3 to 4-hour hike to Fairy Meadows.
- By Train: Pakistan's railway network does not reach Gilgit-Baltistan. The nearest major active railway station is Rawalpindi Railway Station, which is many hours away by road from Chilas.
- By Public Transport: From Chilas or Gilgit, you can find shared vans or buses going towards Raikot Bridge on the KKH. At Raikot Bridge, hire a local jeep for the ride up to Tatu Village.
