Description
Hopper Glacier is a big glacier found in the Nagar area of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is also known as Hoper Glacier. This glacier comes down from the high Spantik-Sosbun Mountains. People often visit to see its clear blue ice. You can walk to viewpoints to see the glacier and the tall peaks around it.

Best Season to Visit
Spring: The weather is cool and nice from April to May. Flowers start to grow, and snow begins to melt. It's a good time for walking and seeing greenery.
Summer: June to August has mild and comfortable temperatures. This is the best time for hiking and getting clear views of the glacier and mountains. It is the busiest time for visitors.
Monsoon/Rainy: /Rainy: From July to August, Gilgit-Baltistan usually gets less rain than other parts of Pakistan. The weather is mostly clear near the glacier, but roads leading to the region can sometimes have issues.
Autumn: September to November offers clear skies and fresh air. The trees in the valleys turn yellow and golden, making for beautiful pictures.
Winter: December to March is very cold with a lot of snow. The glacier is fully frozen. Many roads might close, making it hard to get to the area.
How to Reach
- By Air: The nearest active airport is Gilgit Airport (GIL). It is about 75 km from Nagar, taking roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to drive to Nagar.
- By Road: You will travel on the Karakoram Highway to reach Nagar. From Nagar town, you need to take a local jeep or hike to get to Hoper Village, which is the starting point for treks to the glacier.
- By Train: There are no railway stations in Gilgit-Baltistan. The nearest major railway station is Rawalpindi Railway Station, which is about 600 km away and needs a long road trip to reach Nagar.
- By Public Transport: From Gilgit, you can find shared jeeps or vans that go towards Nagar and Hoper Village. Once in Hoper Village, local transport or a trek will take you to the glacier's viewing spots.
