Description
Broad Peak Base Camp is where climbers start their journey to Broad Peak, the 12th highest mountain in the world. This area is in the high Karakoram mountain range of Gilgit-Baltistan. The trek to base camp crosses difficult terrain, including parts of the Baltoro Glacier. It offers close views of Broad Peak and K2, another very high mountain. This camp is a key spot for international climbing teams during the summer climbing season.

Best Season to Visit
Spring: April to May. It is cold but usually clear. Good time to start longer treks as snow begins to melt on lower paths.
Summer: June to August. This is the main time for trekking and climbing. Days are warmer and weather is more stable for high-altitude activities.
Monsoon/Rainy: /Rainy: July to August. Rain is less in the very high mountains, but the roads leading to Skardu can have landslides. Still good for climbing expeditions at base camp.
Autumn: September to October. Days get colder, but skies are often very clear. Fewer people are trekking, offering a quieter experience.
Winter: November to March. Very cold with lots of snow. Most of the base camp is empty. Not a time for normal trekking or climbing due to extreme conditions.
How to Reach
- By Air: Fly to Skardu International Airport (SKD). The airport is about 15 minutes drive from Skardu city.
- By Road: From Skardu city, you will travel by jeep for about 6-8 hours to Askole village. Askole is where the trek to Broad Peak Base Camp starts.
- By Train: The nearest active railway station is Rawalpindi Railway Station. Skardu is about a 20-24 hour drive from Rawalpindi.
- By Public Transport: Public buses and vans run from major cities like Rawalpindi and Islamabad to Skardu. From Skardu, you need to hire private jeeps or organize transport to Askole for the trek.
