Best Season to Visit
Spring: (March to May) Weather is cool and pleasant. Flowers start to bloom. Good time for walks and enjoying nature before it gets too warm.
Summer: (June to August) Weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. This is the busiest tourist season.
Monsoon/Rainy: /Rainy: (July to September) Skardu experiences lighter rains compared to other parts of Pakistan. Roads can sometimes be affected by landslides. It's still possible to visit but be prepared for occasional wet weather.
Autumn: (September to November) Weather becomes cold. Trees turn golden, orange, and red. The scenery is very beautiful. Good for photography and enjoying the changing colors.
Winter: (December to February) Very cold with heavy snowfall. Many roads and areas might be closed. Less suitable for general visits unless you specifically want to experience snow and extreme cold.
How to Reach
- By Air: The nearest airport is Skardu International Airport (KDU). It is located about 10-15 kilometers from Skardu city center.
- By Road: Skardu is connected to the Karakoram Highway (N-35) by the Jaglot-Skardu Road (S-1). It is a long drive from major cities like Islamabad or Rawalpindi, taking about 20-24 hours.
- By Train: Pakistan Railways does not have train service to Skardu. The nearest major railway station is Rawalpindi Railway Station, which is around 600 kilometers away. From Rawalpindi, you would need to take a bus or hire a car to Skardu.
- By Public Transport: From Skardu city, you can hire a local taxi or use shared jeeps (called 'hiace') to reach the Organic Village area. Ask for 'Organic Village' or 'Hussainabad'.
