Description
The Khewra Salt Mine is one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world. It is a major source of rock salt in the Salt Range of Punjab, Pakistan. Salt mining started here a very long time ago. Today, it is a big tourist spot with special areas built inside the mine. Visitors can see many structures made from salt blocks and learn about the history of salt mining.

Best Season to Visit

How to Reach
- By Air: The nearest active airport is Islamabad International Airport (ISB). It is about 130-150 kilometers from Khewra, taking around 2 to 3 hours to drive.
- By Road: You can reach Khewra by car or bus using the M2 Motorway. Take the Lilla Interchange exit, then follow the signs towards Khewra.
- By Train: The Khewra Railway Station is very close to the mine. There are also trains to Jhelum Railway Station, which is about 50-60 kilometers away.
- By Public Transport: Local vans and shared taxis run from nearby towns like Jhelum city, Pind Dadan Khan, and the Lilla Interchange to Khewra.
